The girls and I knew we wanted to run more sophisticated auctions than we could offer using the off-the-shelf lowest unique bid software we had previously used. So we set ourselves the challenge of designing our ideal solution.
Between us, we think we came up with something quite unique (no pun intended).
We've kept the lowest unique bid concept, as this ensures the final price stays very low, but we've changed everything around our original model so that now we...
- only run on-line auctions as this means we can provide
information to
bidders as it is happening so that they can apply skill when placing
bids
- cap the number of bids each user place in each auction as this
ensures a 'level playing field'
- keep the auctions short and active to create an adrenalin-rush
throughout the auction
No!
Every aspect of this, the technology, the commercials, the payment processes and the lots we offer, has needed so much careful thought, planning and effort I think I've aged 10 years...
Even though it's still pretty hectic, things seems to be on a more even keel now, so perhaps I can find time to sleep and get rid of the shadows under my eyes (I think I'll need something out of bottle for the grey hair).
